Rain Worthington

Self-taught in composition, Rain Worthington’s catalog includes works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, duos, solos and miniatures. The IAWM Journal called her music “a fusion of styles—ancient, medieval modality and sonorities, modernist minimalist-ostinato, and classical approaches to basic ideas—to capture components of the human experience.”
Performances included premieres of Within Deep Currents, Shredding Glass, In Passages and Turning Tides commissioned by the Portland Youth Philharmonic.
The World premiere of Dream Vapors Suite was performed in 2022 by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. Also in 2022, violinist Audrey Wright premiered Balancing on the Edge of Shadows with pianist Yundu Wang for her album THINGS IN PAIRS. Navona Records also released Worthington’s second album, PASSAGES THROUGH TIME. Her first orchestral album DREAM VAPORS was released in 2016. “…it is the impact of the composing in every case that stands out as full of dark, burnished color. From 2006-2021, she served as Artistic Administrator & Composer Advocate for the New York Women Composers.

Self-taught in composition, Rain Worthington’s catalog includes works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, duos, solos and miniatures. The IAWM Journal called her music “a fusion of styles—ancient, medieval modality and sonorities, modernist minimalist-ostinato, and classical approaches to basic ideas—to capture components of the human experience.”
Performances included premieres of Within Deep Currents, Shredding Glass, In Passages and Turning Tides commissioned by the Portland Youth Philharmonic.
The World premiere of Dream Vapors Suite was performed in 2022 by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. Also in 2022, violinist Audrey Wright premiered Balancing on the Edge of Shadows with pianist Yundu Wang for her album THINGS IN PAIRS. Navona Records also released Worthington’s second album, PASSAGES THROUGH TIME. Her first orchestral album DREAM VAPORS was released in 2016. “…it is the impact of the composing in every case that stands out as full of dark, burnished color.
