Description: This piece also exits as a sextet for flute, oboe, French horn, cello, violin and viola. The swatches in this piece are in a variety of styles and feeling states including anxious modernity, cheerful Americanism, passion, gypsiness and a round with a modal resolution--a sort of life cycle. This swale was composed for and premiered at the Chamber Music Conference at Bennington College where the composer was in residence. Performed in June 1999 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C. at its annual concert.Also performed at Music Under Construction. Performed by Calico Winds in Los Angeles and by Quintet of the Americas in New York City.
