Description: This work is for two guitars. The guitarist Volkmar Zimmermann, with whom I’ve collaborated during the past several years, requested that I write a romantic serenade for two guitars of about five or six minutes. The “green ink” in the title refers to Pablo Neruda, who always wrote in green ink, because green is the color of hope (and, for him, desire). Coming after my stormier work for solo piano- Journeying from B to C, this work is a sunnier contrast of mood (begun in sunny Andalusia). It begins with broken chords, reminiscent of a traditional guitar serenade, and then unfolds a melody.
