Description: Joan was an oratorio based on the life of Joan of Arc. This is a performance of all the parts done with tape and piano. It could be performed by five pianists live. The text is decoded into a modulating code that moves from ABCDEFG to ABCDEF to ABCDE to eventually AB. The pitches are typed with instructions for use and the rhythms are improvised. The oratorio was commissioned by the Cabrillo Festival in Aptos, California with funds from the California Arts Commission. The piano version was performed at The Kitchen, NYC. It is available on the Pogus CD entitled Peachy Keen-O.
